Peninsula Arson Suspect Arrested

A 20-year-old transient woman admitted to starting the fire, authorities said.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 20-year-old transient woman was arrested over the weekend in connection with a fire that was set a Peninsula park, authorities said.

The woman was found to be in possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia and was arrested on unspecified arson and drug charges, South San Francisco police said.

Officers on Saturday responded to Orange Memorial Park on the report that someone had just started a fire inside the restrooms near the basketball courts, police said.

A witness identified the woman as the suspect, police said.
