Peninsula Catalytic Converter Theft Suspect Arrested
An additional suspect is at large, according to police.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Authorities on Friday morning arrested a theft suspect and recovered 14 suspected stolen catalytic converters, the South San Francisco Police Department said on the agency's Facebook page.

Officers responding to the 2200 block of Shannon Drive on the report of an interrupted theft of a catalytic converter located the suspect vehicle a short distance away, but the suspect vehicle immediately fled, police said.

The vehicle was involved in a solo vehicle-collision crash in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 at San Francisco’s Vermont Street exit, and the two occupants attempted to flee the scene, police said.

The passenger was arrested but the driver was not located, police said.
The vehicle displayed a stolen license plate and contained 14 catalytic converters, a portable saw and a jack.
“Our Detectives are actively investigating this case to identify any victims associated to the recovered catalytic converters,” police said.
