Peninsula CHP To Deploy DUI Task Force This Weekend
"We are asking the public to designate a driver or arrange transportation to make sure they reach their destination safely," the CHP said.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — California Highway Patrol officers will fan out across the Peninsula this weekend in a special sobriety task force, the agency says. Officers assigned to the Redwood City office will be out "to aggressively seek out and remove impaired drivers from the road," according to CHP Officer Officer Art Montiel.
"Every year, members of our community are injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers," Montiel said. "It is the Department’s goal to use this enforcement tool to assist with the reduction of injury and fatal collisions that are caused by impaired drivers."
Montiel said additional units will deploy to various locations with the sole task of DUI enforcement. The operation is set to begin at 9 p.m. Saturday and end around 4 a.m. Sunday.
