Peninsula Man Accused Of Running Over Woman In Parking Lot

The man was charged with attempted murder. Police said he drove into the victim and then ran her over several more times.

MILLBRAE, CA — A man in the Peninsula was charged with attempted murder on Monday after he was suspected of purposely striking a woman in the parking lot of a Millbrae Starbucks.

The victim remains in grave/critical condition after she was found unresponsive face down, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department. She underwent surgery at San Francisco General Hospital.

Surveillance footage from local businesses determined that the suspect, 23-year-old Garrett Young, drove a gray BMW SUV into the victim at a “high rate of speed” and then ran her over “several more times," according to the sheriff's department. Deputies later found the vehicle and Young parked in front of a residence on Henry Place, and they determined that he was the suspect, according to the sheriff’s department.

Young was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on an attempted murder charge.
