Peninsula Residents: Prepare For Rainy Season

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is urging the public to use caution on the road.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA -- The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office this week warned residents that as the rainy season approaches it brings with it slick roadway conditions and reduced visibility.

As the first rains begin shortly, oil that has accumulated on the roadway will make the surface unusually slippery. Motorists should drive accordingly, reducing their speed, increase their distance from vehicles in front of them and be aware of reduced visibility at times, the Sherrif's Office said in a press release.

Officials urged drivers to wear your seat belt, make sure children are properly secured in car seats and booster seats, and refrain from using electronic handheld devices while operating your vehicle.
