Peninsula Shooting Suspect Arrested

The suspect was arrested Thursday in Gilroy, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A Peninsula man was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting earlier this week in unincorporated San Mateo County, authorities said.

Jonathan Vega, 23, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of reckless discharge of a firearm and assault with a firearm on a person, among other charges, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.

Deputies from the agency’s Coast-Side Patrol Bureau at around 6 p.m. Wednesday responded to the area of Miramontes Point Road and Oleander Way on the report of a shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators determined Vega was the suspect and arrested him in Gilroy, the Sheriff’s Office said.
