Poison Oak Coming Out Of Dormancy In San Mateo County Hills: Cal Fire

Oily leaves and red patches have been spotted in the county hills, indicating that poison oak is coming out of dormancy.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Visitors to the San Mateo County hillside are being advised to be on the lookout for poison oak, Cal Fire CZU warned.

The department’s social media accounts posted several photos on Monday from the vista point at Highway 92 and 35 in San Mateo County.

The photos showed oily leaves and red patches all over the hillside, indicating that poison oak is coming out of dormancy.
