San Mateo City Council to Vote On Newest 7-Eleven

The store has been open a little more than two weeks, much to the dismay of many neighbors.

The San Mateo City Council on Monday night will determine whether the recently-opened 7-Eleven at 501 N. San Mateo Drive will remain open or be forced to close.

The City Council is set to decide whether the market use at the location, where many residents strongly opposed the opening of the store, is a "legal nonconforming use in accordance with Section 27.72.030 of the Zoning Code," according to the city's administrative report.

The store has been open for more than two weeks and neighbors have already demonstrated at least twice now in front of the store to protest its presence, according to an article in the San Mateo Daily Journal.
