San Mateo Co. To Host Screenings On Human Trafficking Awareness
The free, virtual screenings will each be followed by a 30-minute moderated panel discussion with experts.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The San Mateo County Human Trafficking Program is hosting three virtual film screening events over the next three months.
The screenings will each be followed by a 30-minute moderated panel discussion with experts.
The first is “Chosen,” scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The film tells the true story of trafficked teens in America and shines a light on the youth that are groomed for sexual exploitation.

Additional screenings will be March 10 (“This Adventure Called California”) and April 14 (“Boys Documentary”).
In addition to San Mateo’s Human Trafficking Program, BraveMaker, Bay Area Anti-Trafficking Coalition, Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital and the South Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking are also hosting and underwriting the screenings.

Experts scheduled to speak are: Umrah Hang, a consultant, trainer and advocate; Jeneé Littrell, the deputy superintendent of education services at the San Mateo County Office of Education; Sgt. Junsun Lee from the Redwood City Police Department and Lorry Thomas, the deputy director and trauma counselor at Rape Trauma Services.
The moderator will be Jeremy Latta, a social work supervisor with the San Mateo County Children and Family Services.
