San Mateo County Authorities Issue 117 Citations During Crackdown
In the second such deployment this year, officers patrolled "known trouble spots" in South San Francisco, Daly City, Brisbane and San Mateo.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County law enforcement made in excess of 130 stops and issued 117 citations as part of a planned traffic enforcement crackdown on Tuesday.
By far, the most write-ups were issued for unsafe speed, which accounted for 74 citations. There were 15 tickets for cell phone violations and 13 for vehicle code violations.
The first operation that took place Mar. 16 saw 245 citations issued in Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough and San Bruno. Cell phone violations made up the majority of those write-ups.

Twenty-six traffic officers from departments around the county participated under a program known as the San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). Officers patrolled "known trouble spots" in South San Francisco, Daly City, Brisbane and San Mateo on Tuesday to increase traffic safety and awareness, according to a news release.
The STEP program is a collaborative effort across the county's law enforcement agencies to reduce traffic accidents throughout the county, according to a news release.
