San Mateo County Seeks Veteran, Patriot Award Nominees
The County of San Mateo seeks nominees for its annual awards honoring veterans, patriotic non-vets and vet-supporting businesses.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA -- The County of San Mateo and the County Veterans Commission are seeking nominees for their 2019 Veteran of the Year, the Patriot of the Year and the Enterprise of the Year awards.
The Veteran of the Year award recognizes that San Mateo County veteran resident who has distinguished him or herself through outstanding service to the County’s community. The Patriot of the Year award recognizes that San Mateo County non-veteran resident who has demonstrated exceptional service to the County’s veterans and veteran community. The Enterprise of the Year award recognizes that for-profit or non-for-profit corporation that has demonstrated exemplary service to the County’s veteran community.

- All Veteran of the Year and Patriot of the Year nominees must be a current residents of San Mateo County. Enterprise nominees need not be headquartered in the County but must have a business presence by operating an office or conducting business in the County.
- Veteran of the Year nominees must have served honorably in one of the U.S. armed services branches including the Coast Guard either/or on active duty or in the Reserve Component and received an honorable discharge.
- Patriot of the Year nominees must be a non-veteran and a current resident of the County of San Mateo.
- Enterprise of the Year nominees can be either a for-profit or not-for-profit (501c(3)) corporation. Corporate nominees need not be headquartered in the County but must have a business presence by operating an office or conducting business in the County.
The awards will be presented at a luncheon to be held on Nov. 7.
The County’s Veterans Commission is now accepting nominations for each of the award categories. Nomination forms may be obtained either online at hsa.smcgov.org/nomination-forms-and-publications or at the San Mateo County Veteran Services Office at 550 Quarry Road, San Carlos, CA 94070.

All nominations must be received no later than 4 PM on Friday, August 23 at the San Mateo County Veteran Services Office, 550 Quarry Road, San Carlos, CA 94070. The Veterans Commission will review and select the award winners.
