San Mateo Forensic Specialist Receives Award From Secret Service
Annette Bingham received the Forensic Partner Award, recognizing her work for the department in digital evidence examinations
SAN MATEO, CA — The San Mateo City Council recognized the San Mateo Police Department’s Digital Forensic Unit during its meeting Monday for receiving an award from the United States Secret Service.
Digital Forensic Specialist Annette Bingham received the Forensic Partner Award, which recognized her work for the department in digital evidence examinations. Two U.S. Secret Service Special Agents presented Bingham with the award at the San Mateo Police Department last week.
Bingham, who was hired in 2015, completed 426 forensic exams in 2021 through the Cyber Fraud Task Force, a special task force of the Secret Service.

“The information they yield is immense and are likely able to provide investigators critical information such as a subject’s whereabouts, their intent, relationships to others, as well as actual evidence of a crime depicted in photos, videos and the like,” the San Mateo Police Department said in a news release.
The San Mateo Police Department is among 60 law enforcement agencies in the San Francisco region of the task force.
