San Mateo PD Arrests Suspect In Assisted Living Facility Burglary
A resident's call to staff at Atria Park Assisted Living Facility led to the arrest.

SAN MATEO, CA — A man was arrested after allegedly burglarizing an assisted living facility in San Mateo and then trying to hide from officers in an exterior stairwell early Monday morning, according to police.
The suspect, 20-year-old San Mateo resident Melvin Gonzalez-Gochez, was spotted by a staff member inside the room of a resident at Atria Park Assisted Living Facility at 2883 S. Norfolk St. at 4:21 a.m., police said.
A resident called staff to report someone outside of their bedroom, and that's when the staff member entered the room to see the suspect jumping out of the living room window, police said. Officers arrived at the facility soon afterward and found Gonzalez-Gochez and took him into custody with help from a police K-9. He was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary.
