San Mateo Police 'Diligently Working' In Wake Of Area Robberies
While no incidents have occurred at the Hillsdale Shopping Center, a spokesperson told the Daily Journal that police are "aware."
SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo police are “diligently working” with local malls to address any potential security risks after several recent robberies in Bay Area shopping centers, according to the San Mateo Daily Journal.
High-end stores across the Bay Area have been the target of robberies involving a large group of suspects.
While no incidents have occurred at the Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo, police spokesperson Allison Gillmore told the Daily Journal that the local police department has taken note of the recent events.

“Preventative steps can only do so much, but the San Mateo Police Department is aware of the situations and doing our best to take note,” Gilmore told the Daily Journal.
On Sunday, about 40 to 50 people were reported to have broken into Sam's Jewelers in Hayward's Southland Mall. On Saturday, 80 people stormed Nordstrom in Walnut Creek. On Friday, The Louis Vuitton store in San Francisco's Union Square was hit in a brazen smash-and-grab robbery.

And on Sunday night, an organized robbery in Santana Row's Lululemon store on Sunday night left San Jose Police on high alert.
