San Mateo Police Need Help Finding Man who Allegedly Exposed Himself to Female Jogger

The woman was alone on a jogging path when the man allegedly called out to her then exposed his genitals.

Police are asking for help finding a man who allegedly exposed himself to a woman Wednesday in San Mateo, police said today. The victim, a 51-year-old woman, was jogging alone on a path between buildings around 6 p.m. in the 2000 block of East Third Avenue when a man allegedly called out to her, according to police. Police said the woman
turned and saw the man exposing his genitals.

The woman became frightened and ran as the man reached out as if he was trying to grab her, police said. Police said he did not touch her, but the woman stumbled and fell near the man. The woman yelled for help and startled the suspect who fled south on the path, according to police. Police said the woman got to her feet and ran home to report the crime.

She suffered minor injuries to her arm and forehead from the fall, according to police. Police and the woman went to the crime scene, a secluded area along the path just west of Detroit Drive. Police said the crime is a top priority for detectives who are following leads in the case.

Police said they don’t know the man’s motives, but they have no tolerance for people who engage in lewd acts.

Department officials are currently dispatching covert and uniformed officers to pedestrian paths to deter similar crimes. Police are describing the suspect as a white or Hispanic man in his 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 170 pounds wearing a button-up shirt and slacks.
