San Mateo Sheriff's Office Sets Date for Gun Buyback Event
Weapon owners can receive up to $100 cash for a handgun, shotgun or rifle, and up to $200 cash for an assault rifle -- no questions asked.

Got an unwanted handgun or long gun, and need some extra cash for the holidays? Well, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and other local top cops have a deal for you.
San Mateo County Sheriff Carlos G. Bolanos, Redwood City Police Chief Dan Mulholland, Belmont Police Chief Daniel J. DeSmidt, and the “Citizens for a San Mateo County Gun Buyback” are supporting an anonymous gun buyback event to provide people with a safe way to surrender any firearms with no questions asked.
Individuals can receive up to $100 cash for a handgun, shotgun, or rifle and up to $200 cash for an assault rifle. Those wishing to participate can drop off their unwanted arms between 10 am and 2 pm Saturday, Dec. 15 at 1402 Maple St., Redwood City.

“The bun buyback program provides an opportunity for positive dialogue surrounding safe weapon possession and empowers responsible gun owners to unify behind a worthwhile program that provides a safe environment to surrender unwanted weapons, without question, for destruction, ” Mulholland said.
