SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo's three-day citywide yard sale is gearing up to return this summer, inviting hundreds of residents to participate next month. The annual event supports the city's Zero Waste goal by helping households sell items they no longer need and give them a new life somewhere else instead of throwing them away.

Online registration is now open, and sellers can choose to participate on any — or all — of the days. Signing up before July 16 secures a spot in online and printed yard sale listings, including the city's official map.

Shoppers will also be able to see advertisements on social media and in the San Mateo City Journal, and the city will have addresses and items for sale listed online during the week leading up to the event.

Registration is free, and those without a good internet connection can stop by City Hall to sign up in person and pick up a free yard sale sign. The city will continue to update the live map of participants in the coming weeks and print physical copies for distribution the week before.
