Second Suspect Arrested In Homicide Of San Mateo Rapper

Melota Lasi, a rapper who was known as "Cutty Banks," was shot and killed last December in a Wells Fargo parking lot on Hillsdale Boulevard.

SAN MATEO, CA — Authorities arrested a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a San Mateo resident last December.

Amanda Young, 29, was taken into custody in Torrance last week on charges of homicide and conspiracy. She was extradited and is currently at San Mateo County Jail.

According to the San Mateo Police Department, Young mistakenly believed that Melota Lasi, a rapper who was known as “Cutty Banks,” was responsible for the shooting death of her boyfriend, Lewis Reupena, in August 2020. Police said that Young convinced Reupena's brother, Isaiah Reupena, to drive to San Mateo to kill Lasi for revenge.

Lasi was not involved in Reupena's death, according to the California Highway Patrol. Isaiah Reupena was arrested in April after moving to Oklahoma.

Lasi was shot and killed in a Wells Fargo parking lot on Hillsdale Boulevard on Dec. 19.
