Shooting At Bay Area Gas Stations Ends With Arrests Months Later: Police

One suspects was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after shooting at an occupied car, police said.

SAN MATEO, CA — Officers arrested a suspect Wednesday involved in a shooting from several months ago at gas station in San Mateo.

On May 9, San Mateo Police Department officers said they responded to a Shell Gas Station located at 1400 West Hillsdale Blvd. after an employee reported hearing a loud bang.

Officers said they arrived and found one spent 9mm shell casing at the gas stating.

Police said they confirmed someone had shot the round at an occupied car. Officers said they gathered information about three suspects involved in the shooting.

No one was injured as a result of the shooting, police said.

Officer said they learned that two of the suspects, Carlos Alegria, 22, of Millbrae and Elder Lariosmayen, 20, of San Mateo, were already in custody for an unrelated crime in San Francisco. Alegria and Larios had warrants added to their current bookings in San Francisco.

The third suspect, Junior Mayen Mujiana, 19, of San Mateo was still outstanding, police said.

At 10:56 a.m. on Wednesday, officers said they arrested Mayen in the area of Cypress Avenue and N. Amphlett Boulevard. Police said they then served search warrants at one of Mayen's homes in San Mateo and another in Hayward.

Police said they found a Glock pistol, ammunition, and gang markings.

Mayen was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges of accessory after the fact and participating in a criminal street gang, police said.

Alegria was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an inhabited vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with previous conviction, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition and exhibiting a concealed firearm in public, police said.

Lariosmayen was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with previous conviction, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, and exhibiting a concealed firearm in public, police said.
