SMC To Host Wildfire Preparedness Event

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County officials have announced a community event titled "Don't Be Scared, Be Prepared: Be Wildfire Safe & Ready," scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at the San Mateo County Event Center.

The initiative is designed to educate residents on wildfire preparedness and safety strategies.

The event will feature workshops, informational booths, and expert talks focusing on evacuation planning, home hardening techniques, and creating defensible spaces around properties.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about regional alert systems, develop household emergency plans, and understand the importance of early evacuation during wildfire threats.

"Our goal is to equip the community with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect themselves and their properties from wildfires," said a county spokesperson. "By taking proactive steps, residents can significantly reduce risks and enhance safety."
