“Officers arrived on scene and observed an intoxicated driver who lost control of her vehicle and collided into a pole. The driver nor an innocent member of the public was injured,” the agency said.
The crash was among at least two serious traffic accidents the SMPD responded in a 24-hour period.
A head-on collision Tuesday afternoon on 28th Avenue and S. Delaware Street resulted in several minor injuries.
“Luckily for all involved, there were only minor injuries reported. However, this failure to yield right-of-way could resulted in far more serious consequences,” police said.
“We want to remind drivers to pay attention to traffic signals, make turns when it is safe to do so, and never assume the other driver will give you the right-of-way.”
