SAN MATEO, CA — Three people from San Francisco were arrested Sunday after police allege they stole hundreds of dollars in merchandise from a San Mateo Target.

According to police, the store reported a theft in progress after asset protection employees saw a man and woman load items into a suitcase and tried to leave without paying through a rear fire door. Officers arrived and spotted the pair outside the store and determined they were carrying more than $800 in stolen products, police said.

Investigators determined the two suspects were linked to a vehicle parked nearby with another woman inside. Officers reported more items found inside the car, which police said were determined to have been taken from another Target in Colma.
