For all who are struggling to make ends meet, Samaritan House is here to help. For over 50 years, Samaritan House has been leading the fight against poverty in San Mateo County. We are the only organization that delivers essential services and personalized support to connect the people living in poverty among us to the full range of resources and services they need. More than just ensuring our clients are fed, clothed, healthy, and housed, we help them create their own stability and remain an active, successful part of the community. Over recent years, more and more families in San Mateo County have been thrust into poverty. From the COVID-19 pandemic, to increasing wealth inequality, to the impacts of inflation and the housing crisis, the financial pressures on our neighbors have grown. Three people were injured in a shooting in East Palo Alto on Tuesday, police said. 	 Shortly after 8 p.m., police received a report of a shooting victim in the 1000 block of Myrtle Street, off of Pulgas Avenue. Arriving officers found three East Palo Alto residents suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to a hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, police said. Witnesses to the shooting are asked to call East Palo Alto police dispatch at (650) 321-1112, send an anonymous email to epa@tipnow.org, send an anonymous text to (650) 409-6792, or leave an anonymous voice mail by calling (650) 409-6792.
