UPDATE: Two Months After Forced Closure, Little Sichuan Remains Clean

Two months after by the San Mateo County Health System for major health code violations - including the presence of rodents - San Mateo's restaurant appears to be operating on the straight and narrow.

Little Sichuan was shut down on June 21 of this year for a long list of violations, including the "presence of vermin, rodents, insects, birds or animals." 

Following the closure, County Health inspectors on June 27, June 28 and July 2, and each time, that the restaurant's operators had not sufficiently cleaned up their act, warranting the business re-opening to the public.

Patch readers that the restaurant appeared to be trying to cover up the reasons behind its sudden closure, telling customers who called or came by that they were "remodeling the kitchen," and posting a sign on their front door saying as much.

Requests for comment by Patch were denied.

Finally, after cleaning up the restaurant to the County Health System's satisfaction, .

Since then, it appears the restaurant has remained compliant with county health codes.

Dean Peterson, San Mateo County's director of Environmental Health, told Patch this week that a follow-up inspection was completed on July 10 "to ensure the facility was in compliance after it reopened."

Peterson also said staff from the County Health System's Environmental Health division met with the restaurant's manager on July 26 to re-cap the actions taken by the restaurant since reopening, and to outline further steps to avoid future infestation.

However, , before the restaurant reopened, 90 percent of Patch readers who voted said they would never dine at Little Sichuan again, even if the staff cleaned the restaurant and it was deemed safe to reopen by the County Health System.
