Bay Area Victim Carjacked, Attacked With Knife By Suspects: Police
A multi-month investigation led police to two suspects, including one who was already in jail.
SAN MATEO, CA — Officers arrested a second suspect Wednesday stemming from a carjacking and knife attack that happened in June, police said.
On June 8, San Mateo Police Department officers said they responded to the 700 block of S. Humboldt Street after a victim reported their car had been stolen.
When officers arrived, the victim told them they had left their car idling and walked away from it when they saw another vehicle pull up next to their car.

The suspect vehicle also fled the scene, police said.
After a multi-month investigation, police said they identified Okustino Tao, 25, of Oakland, as the primary suspect and Tevita Salt, 22, of Oakland, as the driver of the suspect vehicle.
Tao was already in custody for other unrelated charges, and the crimes of carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon were added to his booking sheet, police said.
The SMPD received help from the California National Guard who found and arrested Salt on Wednesday.
Salt was arrested in his car in Oakland and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
