Volunteers Needed To Help Beautify San Mateo Community Garden
Community members are invited to help breathe new life into an aging community garden and orchard Friday morning.
SAN MATEO, CA — Volunteers are welcome to come out and lend a hand Friday to help revitalize the community garden and orchard at the San Mateo Adult & Career Education Center. The center helps people from diverse backgrounds develop the skills they need to succeed academically, professionally, and as community members.
The project is being led in partnership with Each Green Corner at Tito's Handmake Vodka's Block to Block program.
The space was initially designed to offer space for participants at the center to grow food for themselves and their families while selling extra produce to raise funds for the program. According to the nonprofit, the existing garden and orchard are several years old and have fallen into disrepair. As a result, usage has waned and the garden beds are overdue for some TLC.
