Up To $1,500 Offered To Marin Residents Who Switch To Electric Stoves

The BayREN Home+ rebate is only available for PG&E natural gas customers.

MARIN COUNTY, CA —Marin has been urging residents to switch from gas to electric stoves for years, and the county is now sweetening the deal.

Marin residents who make the switch are eligible for up to $1,500 is now offered through regional and county rebates and incentives.

The Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) Home+ program is offering $750 to owners of single family homes who replace their existing natural gas range or cooktop with an electric induction range or cooktop, and the county-run Electrify Marin program is providing $250 for upgrades from gas to induction cooktops, and $500 for replacing a gas range (cooktop plus oven), officials said in a news release.

Residents who have installed solar energy or have opted into to MCE Clean Energy’s Deep Green choice can enjoy powering their homes with 100 percent renewable energy.

Homeowners that switch to induction cooking can experience other important benefits, including improved indoor air quality by removing combustion gases from the home.

Induction ranges also open up design possibilities by requiring less mechanical ventilation per the building code and by requiring less space under the cooktop, which can provide additional cabinet space.
