The carjacking followed the armed robbery of a 7-Eleven store, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Authorities are asking for the public’s help locating two suspects sought in connection with a San Rafael armed robbery and carjacking early Tuesday morning, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to a report at around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday of an armed robbery and vehicle theft at the 7-Eleven store at 292 North San Pedro in San Rafael, the Sheriff’s Office said on the agency's Facebook page.

Deputies determined that the suspects held up the store at gunpoint and initially demanded the car keys from a customer inside the store but returned the car keys after the customer pleaded with them not to because his three children were in the car, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspects forcefully took the keys from another customer outside the store and forced a passenger from the vehicle before driving away from the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies found the vehicle parked in the 800 block of Vendola Drive, which is located near the levee system in Santa Venetia, but were unable to locate the suspects, who remain at large.

“We are asking that anyone who lives in the area of 7-11 or the 800 block of Vendola Drive to check their video surveillance systems prior to and after the Robbery and Carjacking,” the Sheriff’s Office said on the agency’s Facebook page.
