83% Of Eligible Marin Students Vaxxed: HHS
The agency's estimate is based on reporting from 85 percent of Marin schools as of Friday.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Approximately 83 percent of eligible Marin public school students have been vaccinated, according to the county’s coronavirus dashboard, which cites data from Marin Health and Human Services.
Approximately 93 percent of Marin’s 6,858 school staffers have been vaccinated according to the HHS estimate, which was based on reporting from 85 percent of Marin schools as of Friday.
There are 39,250 students enrolled in Marin public schools, but just 22,000 of the county’s student population is in the 12-to 17-year-old age group that’s eligible for the vaccines, The Marin Independent Journal reports, meaning that less than half of the county’s total student population has been vaccinated.

The county reports 157 new student COVID-19 cases and 19 new cases among staff since the start of the academic year that began in August, of which just 14 cases are suspected of being transmitted in schools (13 are suspected of being student-to-student transmissions, and one from a student to a staffer).
Marin’s high student vaccination rate isn’t necessarily surprising the county has the state’s highest vaccination rates and is among the nation’s most vaccinated communities.

As of Monday afternoon, 91.4 percent of eligible Marin residents 12 years of age and older have completed their vaccine series and 97.8 percent of county residents have received at least one jab, according to the county's vaccination dashboard.
Marin tops the state with 76.7 percent of all residents (including those under 12) fully vaccinated, and the North Bay county ranks ninth in the nation among all counties (regardless of population), The New York Times reports.
Marin was the nation's most vaccinated county among those with a population over 250,000 according to data compiled earlier this year by The San Francisco Chronicle.
“The high percentage of vaccinated students and staff reported in the data reflects the very successful and supportive collaboration between our schools and our health care partners,” Marin Superintendent of Schools Mary Jane Burke told the IJ.
“This has been instrumental in keeping our schools open and keeping our students and staff safe and healthy.”
