
Gail P. Swing, a longtime school teacher in San Rafael, died after a brief illness on Aug. 29, 2012.
Born in Santa Rosa on Nov. 29, 1924, she graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco and UC Berkeley. She lived the past 56 years in San Rafael, including the past 15 years since her husband, Don Swing, passed away.
She retired from San Rafael City Schools after 25 years teaching second grade — for a few years at Glenwood and the rest at Coleman.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Swing of Novato, and her sons, Gary Toponce of Orinda and Dave Toponce of Truckee. She left grandsons Alex Toponce, Kris Schneider and granddaughter Lindley Schneider.
Her memorial will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 15 at the in Terra Linda.
