Burglars Smash Doors To 5 Shops At Marin County Shopping Center: Police

Restaurants, cafes and an ice cream shop were the target of these blatant burglaries, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Burglars used hammers to smash the glass storefronts of five businesses in San Rafael to break in and steal what they could early Saturday morning, police said.

At around 3 a.m. on Saturday, burglars used hammers to break the glass doors of shops at the Northgate One Shopping Center in San Rafael's Terra Linda.

The stores targeted were Jelly Donuts Shop, The Sonoma Taco Shop, Silberman's Ice Cream, Bagel Street Cafe and Calgang Thai Eatery.

The burglars took cash registers, cash boxes and anything of value they could grab, police said.

Although San Rafael Police Department officers arrived within minutes of glass being broken, the suspects fled at a high rate of speed in what is a suspected stolen getaway car. Police terminated the pursuit out of concerns for safety.
