Fatal Marin Freeway Crash Victim ID’d

The crash was reported at around 9:53 p.m. Sunday at Highway 101 at Seminary Drive, the Sheriff's Office said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking on a Marin Freeway Sunday night has been identified as Andrew Warner Barone, 35 of Lockport, New York, authorities said Monday.

Barone walking in the travel lanes of Highway 101 for unknown reasons that are under investigation at the time of the crash, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Monday.

The crash was reported at around 9:53 p.m. at Highway 101 at Seminary Drive, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The California Highway Patrol traffic site noted that multiple callers — including the driver of the vehicle involved — reported the incident.

First Responders immediately dispatched to the scene Barone unresponsive and unconscious with multiple blunt impact injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Paramedics pronounced Barone dead at the scene.

A forensic postmortem examination with toxicology testing was scheduled for Tuesday.
