Marin Antisemitic Hate Incident Probed
The suspect sought in connection with Friday's incident at Corte Madera Town Center has not yet been located, police said.
CORTE MADERA, CA — A man was spotted distributing flyers with an antisemitic and anti-vaccination messaging last week at a Marin shopping center, and the case is being investigated as a hate incident, the Central Marin Police Authority said.
A witness who confronted the man placing the flyers on cars Friday at Corte Madera Town Center took photos of the flyers reported the incident to authorities Saturday, police said.
The witness provided a description of the suspect, but he hasn’t yet been located, police said.

“Hate speech in any form is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the communities we serve,” Central Marin Police Chief Michael Norton said in a statement.
“The Central Marin Police Authority takes all reports of hate speech, hate incidents, and hate crimes very seriously and will request prosecution of all applicable crimes.”

The incident is part of a string of incidents throughout the state in recent months.
Similar incidents have recently been reported in Berkeley and other California cities including Palo Alto, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Pasadena and Huntington Beach.
Similar incidents were reported in Marin in February and an incident in Danville was reported earlier this week.
“The Town of Corte Madera condemns this incident as hateful expressions of intolerance that are contradictory to the values of our community,” Corte Madera Mayor Fred Cassisa said in a statement.
“Incidents such as these, in any form, cannot and will not be tolerated; and, will be taken seriously."
