Marin DA Secures Grant For DUI Prosecution Team
The grant will allow a specialized, two-person team to continue focusing on cases involving drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — The state has awarded a $467,185 grant to the Marin County District Attorney's Office to support its team of DUI-focused prosecutors.
According to the county, this is the 13th year the DA's office has received the grant, funding a two-person specialty team that handles the county's impaired driving cases. Last year, the office filed 1,032 DUI cases, making for a 10.4 percent increase in such prosecutions over the previous year.
The team also partners with statewide programs to help train other prosecutors in handling DUI cases.

"Marin County is safer thanks to the hard work and experience of our Vertical DUI PRosecution Team (VDPT)," District Attorney Lori E. Frugoli said. "Our VDPT would not be possible without the generous funding by the Office of Traffic Safety, which provides the necessary financial means to successfully prosecute serial DUI drivers and to keep Marin highways and streets safe for all drivers and pedestrians."
Grant funding is awarded annually by the state Office of Traffic Safety with federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
