Marin Pursuit Ends With Murder Suspect’s Arrest

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A man sought in connection with a Solano County homicide was arrested in Marin Monday night after a shooting prompted a frantic pursuit, authorities said.
Jonathan Melvin Poole, 23 of Suisun City, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, child cruelty, evading police and causing injury, along with multiple warrants out of Solano County including one for first-degree murder, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies just after 6 p.m. Monday responded to the 200 block of Drake Avenue in Marin City on reports of shots fired, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Multiple shell casings of different calibers were located at the scene.
A deputy attempted to stop a silver sedan identified by witnesses as the suspect vehicle, but the driver did not yield, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The officer pursued the vehicle southbound on Highway 101.
The driver, later identified as Poole, led authorities on a 22-minute pursuit that involved deputies and the California Highway Patrol. He drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and into San Francisco before returning to Highway 101 northbound back to Marin.
“During the pursuit the driver drove evasively and at excessive speeds in an attempt to evade capture,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
The pursuit ended when Poole crashed into several vehicles near the San Quentin exit, The Marin Independent Journal reports.
One crash victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.
An adult passenger and 10-year-old child who were in the suspect vehicle were unharmed and released at the scene after being interviewed, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Poole was not arrested in connection with the Marin City shooting, and the Sheriff’s Office is urging witnesses to come forward. No witnesses have yet come forward, the Sheriff’s Office said.
