Marin Suspect Accused Of Throwing Hatchet Amid Disturbance

NOVATO, CA — A Marin suspect was arrested earlier this month in connection with a disturbance at a Novato gas station in which he allegedly threw a hatchet at a tree, police said.

Joseph Louis Deadman, 34, was arrested on suspicion of health and safety violations and was booked at the Marin County Jail, the Novato Police Department said.

Officers at around 11 p.m. Aug. 19 responded to the report disturbance in the parking lot of a gas station on the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard in which the suspect threw a hatchet at a tree and was tossing boxes, police said.

Deadman exhibited signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was evaluated by officers at the scene, police said.

Upon his arrest, Deadman was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
