WATCH: Terrifying Close Call As Woman Rescued From Flooded Car
A deputy jumped into a flooded creek, broke a window and pulled a woman to safety just moments before water fully enveloped her vehicle.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A Marin County deputy leaped into action Tuesday morning to rescue a driver trapped in a flooded creek as a powerful atmospheric river poured over the North Bay.
According to the sheriff's office, the driver was traveling on Platform Bridge Road, just outside Point Reyes Station, as the weather deteriorated and the roads began to flood. Around 5 a.m., the driver hit a large puddle, lost control and careened into the creek.
Investigators said the vehicle became completely disabled, including its locks and windows, but the driver was able to call 911 for help.

Within a few minutes, Deputy Mike Dawson arrived at the scene.
Body camera video released Thursday shows Dawson jumping into the creek as the car's interior filled with water, then breaking out the rear window to reach the driver. The deputy pulled the woman to safety and brought her to the road just moments before the rushing water overtook the car.

"This entire incident lasts just minutes, showing how significant storm activity can be," the sheriff's office said Thursday. "We are thankful for the positive outcome during this incident and want to remind everyone to slow down in inclement weather and DO NOT drive through standing water on the road."
The Department of Public Works placed road closure signs after the rescue, and the sheriff's office said two more vehicles became stuck after the drivers ignored the signs.
