17-Year-Old San Ramon Boy Killed After Running Onto 680: CHP
A 17-year-old from San Ramon was fatally struck after running into freeway traffic at around 4:30 in the morning, authorities said.

SAN RAMON, CA — A 17-year-old boy from San Ramon was killed early Wednesday morning after running onto I-680 southbound, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to preliminary information, a 63-year-old woman from Richmond was driving a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek at around 60 to 65 miles per hour on I-680 southbound, just south of Crow Canyon Road, when a pedestrian came from the right shoulder of the freeway and into her lane, CHP said in a news release. The driver applied the brakes, but was unable to stop, and struck the boy.
CHP officers arrived at around 4:38 a.m. to find the 17-year-old dead on the scene, lying on the freeway.

The two far right lanes of 680 southbound were closed for the next two hours, according to the CHP log.
