San Ramon Details Earthquake Readiness Policies
Following a long string of earthquakes, the city details its resources for keeping residents safe and informed.
SAN RAMON, CA — In light of all the recent quakes, the most recent of which took place Tuesday morning, the city published a news release detailing its protocols for emergency earthquake response. The city has an Emergency Operations Center at 2401 Crow Canyon Road, where designated disaster workers will respond in the event of an emergency.
The city said its public facilities and critical infrastructure are regularly assessed for seismic safety, and the city coordinates with Contra Costa County, the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, and local utilities to ensure a coordinated response and access to mutual aid resources.
In the event of a strong earthquake, the city will use social media, the city website, and emergency alert systems to provide timely updates and safety information.
The city also partners with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District to train a Community Emergency Response Team of residents, and to offer public workshops, preparedness guides, and emergency alert systems.
