SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon's Shish Grill swept the East Bay Times' Best of the East Bay 2024 awards, based on reader nominations. The Mediterranean restaurant at Market Place won Best Hamburger, Best Mediterranean Food, Best Vegetarian Food, Best Facebook Page, and Best Neighborhood Grocery.
The 17-year-old restaurant specializes in Greek and Lebanese food like kabob, skewers, gyros, falafel, hummus, wraps, and fresh salads. Chef Nancy said in a profile on page 40 of the magazine that she is most proud when customers return from the Mediterranean and say they missed Shish's food. "Nothing makes us happier," she said. "It's self-fulfilling to know that we were able to stay on our customers' minds during their visits to the Mediterranean."
Outside of that, Camp Bow Wow, a dog daycare and pet boarding franchise on Faria Preserve Parkway, was deemed the Best Pet Boarding spot. The San Ramon location offers four play yards both indoors and outdoors, 13 certified dog counselors, 70 boarding cabins, and limited grooming options.
