Attempted Burglary In San Ramon Leads To High-Speed Chase: SRPD

Two suspects who tried to burgle a San Ramon smoke shop hit a police car while on a high-speed chase, police said. One suspect is at-large.

SAN RAMON, CA — One burglary suspect was arrested and another remains at-large as of Monday, following a lengthy police chase in San Ramon and Dublin, according to the San Ramon Police Department.

On Thursday, Jan. 30 at 6:18 a.m., San Ramon officers responded to reports of a commercial burglary at the Sugar Hill Smoke Shop on 12903 Alcosta Boulevard, SRPD Lt. Mike Pistello told Patch. Officers arrived to find a burglarized store, but no suspects. Using city FLOCK cameras, officers located the vehicle, a 1998 Honda Civic driving through the parking lot of the Extended Stay hotel on 18000 San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

Officers attempted a stop on the Honda, but it fled from officers, driving over vegetation in the area and colliding with an SRPD vehicle, according to Pistello. The chase continued onto 680, and the car was able to evade officers near the 580/680.

With help from the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, the Honda was located unoccupied near the Aster Apartment complex at 6775 Golden Gate Drive in Dublin. Soon after, officers located the two suspects walking near the 7100 block of Dublin Boulevard. The male suspect was taken into custody, and the female suspect fled on foot. Despite an extensive search, she was not located.

Investigators determined that the Honda was stolen out of Concord. Both suspects are believed to have attempted another burglary at a San Ramon business, and committed two commercial burglaries in Pleasant Hill, according to Pistello.
