SAN RAMON, CA – San Ramon’s Bishop Ranch is now home to the world’s largest multi-campus solar and energy installation. Bishop Ranch is also the largest shopping center in the world to be awarded LEED Platinum certification.

Currently, the complex’s solar installation produces nearly 25 megawatts of power, Bishop Ranch owner Sunset Development reported. In 2021, Sunset partnered with DSD Renewables to produce the first phase of the solar installation at City Center Bishop Ranch. It has completed 1.33-megawatt rooftop and canopy PV systems that currently produce 2,073,023 kilowatts of clean, renewable energy annually - or the equivalent of removing 7,550 cars from the road or planting 577,000 new trees. The current systems offset 75 percent of City Center’s energy usage.

But that is only the beginning. Sunset and DSD are planning to add 35,000 new solar panels to Bishop Ranch office buildings. The second phase, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024, will produce 22,239,778 kilowatts of clean energy expected to offset Bishop Ranch’s energy use by 90 percent.
