Chevron Cutting 600 Jobs In San Ramon: Reports
The move comes amid a larger push to cut 15-20% of its global workforce.

SAN RAMON, CA — Chevron announced plans to lay off 600 employees at its former headquarters in San Ramon, according to multiple reports. The layoffs are part of a broader cost-cutting strategy to cut between 15-20% of its workforce to save around $2-3 billion by 2026, amid declining revenue.
“Chevron is taking action to simplify our organizational structure, execute faster and more effectively, and position the company for stronger long-term competitiveness,” Chevron Manager of State Government Affairs Henry Perea wrote in a WARN notice sent to state officials last week that was quoted by multiple outlets. “This means we will have fewer positions and unfortunately, fewer people.”
The announcements come after Chevron began moving its San Ramon headquarters to Houston in 2024, likely due in large part to California suing Chevron and other oil companies for allegedly misleading the public on the risks posed by fossil fuels. That ended the oil giant's longstanding ties with the Bay Area, where it began 145 years ago.
