Concord Officer Arrested in San Ramon
The officer was arrested on Feb. 16 and is facing felony domestic violence charges.

A Concord police officer is facing two felony charges in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred last month, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
Officer Ameet Patel is charged with battery on a spouse cohabitant or a child's parent and false imprisonment by force -- charges that stem from an arrest in San Ramon on Feb. 16, Deputy District Attorney Rachel Piersig said.

Piersig said she was not authorized to provide further details about Patel's arrest.
Concord police Chief Guy Swanger said Patel is on administrative leave as an internal investigation into the alleged incident is carried out.

Patel has been with the department for three years, Swanger said.
The chief declined to comment further because the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Patel is scheduled to appear for arraignment on April 16 in Contra Costa County Superior Court in Martinez.
