Coroner's Jury Rules Livermore Woman's Death in 2015 Pursuit Crash Was Accidental
Two passengers, a Livermore man and woman, were taken to the hospital following the chase from Danville to San Ramon.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A Contra Costa County coroner's jury ruled Tuesday that the death of a woman that occurred during a pursuit from Danville to San Ramon late last year was accidental. Hannah Meecham, 19, was the driver of a vehicle that was being pursued by Danville police officers on Nov. 29, 2015.
Police said an officer at 1:09 a.m. that day noticed Meecham driving a white Honda recklessly on Sycamore Valley Road near the southbound on-ramp to Interstate Highway 680. Officers tried to pull her over but she went over a curb and then drove onto the highway.
A three-minute pursuit ensued until she exited at Crow Canyon Road in San Ramon. She continued before driving south on Camino Ramon and then went off the roadway and struck a tree south of Bollinger
Canyon Road, according to police.

Meecham died at the scene while two passengers, a 19-year-old Livermore woman and a 37-year-old Livermore man, were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Police later learned the car had been reported stolen from Dublin.
The coroner's jury reached its verdict Tuesday after hearing the testimony of witnesses in a hearing, according to the sheriff's office. A coroner's inquest is held in Contra Costa County whenever there is a fatal
incident involving law enforcement officers.

The jury rules on the manner of a person's death and can choose whether it was an accident, suicide, natural causes, or at the hands of another person other than by accident.
