Father and Daughter Sentenced for Lying to SEC About San Ramon Internet Start-Up
The Antioch residents were sentenced to 25 months and 20 months in prison.

A father and daughter from Antioch were sentenced to prison Tuesday after admitting to making false statements under oath and producing fraudulent documents in order to impede and obstruct a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into a San Ramon Internet startup, the U.S. Attorney Office announced Wednesday.
The father Nasser Hamedani, 74, was sentenced to 25 months in prison and his daughter, Sholeh Hamedani, 44, was sentenced to 20 months. They are also required to complete 1,750 hours of community service.
The company the Hamedani's worked for was called The Children’s Internet Inc., which was in the process of developing and marketing software to protect and secure children’s access to the Internet.

The Hamedani's pled guilty to 18 charges on Nov. 9, 2011, after being indicted in 2009.
“Obstructing the SEC from carrying out its mission to protect investors and the integrity of the financial markets is a serious offense with serious consequences,” U.S. Attorney Haag said. “This investigation demonstrates the U.S. Attorney’s office’s commitment to prosecuting individuals who make false statements and fabricate documents in response to investigations by our enforcement partners at the SEC.”
