Last Chance: Cal High Students Perform the Play "(P)harming" Tonight

Go to Cal High tonight to check out the play "(P)harming" at 7 p.m.

From April Rovero

Two students have partnered with the National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse (NCAPDA) to offer a special theatrical production for our community, "(P)harming", which will be performed at the Cal High Theater Friday evening at 7 p.m.

This performance is in support of Prescription Drug Awareness Month, which has been in progress throughout this month of March. Cal High senior, Zach Stalcup, spent most of his Winter Break writing the play's script and Cal High senior Tom Ash has been working since then to recruit actors and to produce the play. Youth actors from various SRVUSD schools have been rehearsing for several weeks in preparation for this special performance.

This theatrical production chronicles the life of a fictional High School football quarterback who gets injured just before the big game that college recruitment scouts will be attending. This young man takes a friend's prescription painkillers to help him push past his injury to perform in this critical game. The audience will watch how prescription drug abuse impacts both his family and friends as his life begins to spiral out of control once that first pill is taken.
