Ruptured Gas Line Forces San Ramon Road Closure

BREAKING: PG&E officials said the rupture occurred when an independent construction crew hit a four-inch gas line.

SAN RAMON, CA —The flow of gas from a ruptured gas line in the 18000 block of Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon was stopped at 4:41 p.m. today, according to PG&E spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian. The gas line rupture, which was reported shortly after 3 p.m., had forced the closure of Bollinger Canyon Road north of Crow Canyon Road and a shelter-in-place advisory was issued for an assisted living facility and a day care facility in the area.

Sarkissian said the rupture occurred when an independent construction crew that's working on a new development hit a four-inch gas line. Sarkissian said two residential customers are impacted by the shutting off of gas in the 18000 block of Bollinger Canyon Road. She said she doesn't know when service for those customers will be restored.

Sarkissian said PG&E strongly urges construction companies and homeowners to seek information about underground utility lines in the areas where they will be digging. She said people can call 811 to get that
information.
