Planned Weekend Partial Closure of I-680 South Between Alcosta and 580 / 680 Interchange

Caltrans has scheduled a partial closure of southbound Interstate 680 between Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and the I-580/I-680 connector in Pleasanton Friday, October 4 through Monday morning, October 7.

Find out what's happening in San Ramonfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Two left lanes of southbound Interstate 680 will be closed between Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and the I-580/I-680 Connector in Pleasanton from 9 p.m. Friday, October 4 through 4 a.m. Monday morning, October 7.

Two right lanes of I-680 will remain open during this closure. However, Caltrans encourages motorists to take alternative routes to alleviate traffic congestion within the construction work zone on southbound I-680 in the cities of San Ramon and Dublin.

In addition to partial closure on southbound I-680, the far-left lane (Express Lane) and left shoulder will be closed on northbound I-680 between Amador Valley Boulevard in Dublin and Alcosta Blvd in San Ramon.

Though lanes will be open, it’s best to avoid the area if possible. If you do access the freeway, **Please be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone and slow for the Cone Zone.**

During the closures, the contractor will replace a portion of the existing deteriorated roadway with new pavement on southbound I-680.

After this partial closure, there will be one more partial weekend closure (Not Full Closure) of southbound I-680 in this specific location allowing that motorists can still travel on southbound I-680 through the construction work zone. The date for this additional partial weekend closure is scheduled for 10/18/2024 to 10/21/2024.

Northbound I-680 and I-580/I-680 interchange connector will remain open and will not be affected by the closure.

Detours for the closures are as follows:

1. Motorists driving west on Interstate 80 in Vacaville and Fairfield will remain on I-80 to southbound I-880.
2. Motorists on southbound I-680 near the Benicia Bridge can take I-780 west to I-80 to southbound I-880.
3. Motorists on southbound I-680 in Concord can take SR-4 to I-80 to southbound I-880 or SR-24 to I-80 to southbound I-880.
4. Motorists on southbound I-680 in Walnut Creek can take SR-24 to I-80 to southbound I-880.
5. Lane Closure Locations (Not Full Closure):
a. Two left lanes closed on southbound I-680 between Alcosta Blvd in San Ramon and I-580/I-680 connector in Dublin
b. Far left lane (Express Lane) and left shoulder closed on northbound I-680 between Amador Valley Blvd in Dublin and Alcosta Blvd in San Ramon

November 2024 General Election: Voting by Mail

Contra Costa County Elections will mail a ballot to every registered voter on October 7. Voted ballots must be postmarked by Election Day or returned to a drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5.

Voting by mail is safe, secure, and preferred by most voters. It’s a highly regulated process, with countless checkpoints, people, and systems working together to keep elections secure.

  • Ballot envelopes are assigned unique ID numbers to ensure voters only vote once and so voters can track their ballots using BallotTrax
  • Ballots are only mailed to registered voters
  • Returned ballots are handled with strict chain-of-custody procedures
  • The voter’s signature on the ballot return envelope is checked up to three separate times
  • Voters will be contacted to “cure” their signature if it’s missing or doesn’t match what’s on file
  • A voter’s activity is logged in the elections system, so the Contra Costa Elections Division only counts the first ballot they receive from each voter

Learn more about voting by mail at secure-election.org/facts-voting and check your voter registration status or register to vote at contracostavote.gov.
