San Ramon Police To Bring Back Citizens Academy This Fall
San Ramon residents interested in learning more about police may join the Citizens Academy in 2021.

SAN RAMON, CA — If you've ever wondered how police officers conduct criminal investigations, traffic stops or drunk driver tests, you might find answers in the upcoming San Ramon Citizens Police Academy.
The 14-session course is open to adult San Ramon residents and workers who have not previously been part of the academy. Participants will learn about policework in hands-on activities, lectures and by observing demonstrations. Experts teach classes on patrol, crime scenes, drugs, use of force, community policing, defensive tactics and officer safety, according to the City of San Ramon.
Participants will take field trips to the Marsh Creek shooting range and Contra Costa Sheriff's Office high-speed driving course.

The goal of the Citizens Academy, the city says, is to foster partnerships with the community, emphasize the importance of the public's role in public safety and explain law enforcement procedures.
